YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Within the framework of World Food Program from 1994 the government of Great Britain has granted to Armenia more than $3 million.
During this year the British government granted about $725,000 to UN’s World Food Program in order to help farmers in Armenian regions which suffered from drought.
The British Ambassador to Armenia–Timothy Jones–first left for the region of Lori. There he met with Governor Secretary Levon Aslanian–who said that there are 13,300 needy families in the region–to which oil and flour will be delivered within the framework of Food for Work Program. In Vanadzor needy families work for city’s forestry and receive flour–oil and granulated sugar daily. The ambassador stated that Aid for Suffered from Drought Program is intended for all regions in Armenia which suffered from drought.
The ambassador also commented on Great Britain’s position on the Genocide: "The Armenian Genocide–carried out by Ottoman Empire in 1915-1923–is recognized in our country. We define it as a number of terrible historical events."
