YEREVAN (Armenpress)–"I am here to convey the congratulations to Armenia’s newly-elected President on behalf of my government," US Assistant Secretary of State and the US co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group Matthew Bryza told reporters Wednesday after the inauguration ceremony of the new president.
He wished the Armenian people peace and underscored the necessity of continuing reforms and bringing them to the final point as, according to him, stability stems from democracy.
He also noted that the US was ready and willing to cooperate with Armenia–both with the new president and all the political and non-governmental organizations.
Referring to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict resolution process, the diplomat said that he expected the continuation of the work, which has gone quite far but has not ended.
He noted that a draft document had been proposed, but required joint confirmation on "several quite difficult issues".
"Judging from what Mr. President was saying when he was a prime minister I think there exists a big opportunity to finish the work but it will be quite difficult," the diplomat said.
