YEREVAN—A bus exploded at the intersection of Halabyan and Arzoumanyan streets at 9:51 local time, leaving one dead and six injured, reported news.am.
According to Armenia’s Emergecy Situations Ministry, first respondents, emergency crews and two fire engines rushed to the scene. The ministry also clarified that earlier reports putting the fatalities at three were a mistake, resulting from the initial panic after the incident.
The explosion occurred on the 63rd line of the municipal bus route. The injured have been transported to Armenia Medical Center for treatment.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations identified the injured as Hasmik Suren Melkonyan (born in 1963), Anush Arshaluys Yeghikyan (born in 1979), Harutyun Nazar Terzyan (born in 1971), Edgar Arayik Gasparyan (born in 20020, Anahit Sargis Mikaelyan (born in 2002), Roland Surik Khojayan (born in 2001). The victim is yet to be identified.
Yerevan Police spokesperson Ashot Aharonyan told Yerkir Media that an investigation is underway.
