YEREVAN (Republic Armenii)–Radio Liberty reported that six presidential candidates Vazgen Manoukian–Baruyr Hayrikian–David Shahnazarian–Hrant Khachatrian–Aram Sargssian–Ashot Bleyan–and Defense Minister Vazgen Sargssian met in the office of the Central Electoral Commission Chairperson Khachatour Bezirjian–Thursday. The meeting lasted two hours.
None of the candidates were available for comment.
"The NDU ran out of coffee–I decided to drink it here," said Manoukian. Shahnazarian and Khachatrian kept silence. Hayrikian said they discussed issues related to the elections. Bleyan assured nothing extraordinary was discussed–an ordinary meeting about the upcoming elections. Sahakian added that the candidates discussed the general political situation.
Questioned on why he attended the meeting–Sargssian said that issues regarding the participation of the army in the election were discussed. "I think we have come to an agreement," he concluded.
