NICOSIA (Combined Sources)-His Holiness Catholicos Aram I of Cilicia is in Cyprus for a three-day official visit. During his stay he met the President of the Cyprus Republic Demetris Christofias, the President of the Cyprus House of Representatives Marios Garoyian and the leader of the Church of Cyprus Archbishop Chrysostomos.
In statemen’s after His meetings with Archbishop Chrysostomos II, Aram I said that the world’s Churches must work together to tackle the huge problems and the challenges society is facing today.
His presence "in this spiritual center is a concrete manifestation that we are committed to working together and deepening our fellowship as Churches that belong to the broader Orthodox tradition," the Catholicos said.
Chrysostomos said the excellent relations exist between the two Churches and that Armenia’s who live in Cyprus "are our brothers."
He said that Aram I will visit Cyprus in September for the Conference of Middle East Churches and in November for the Inter-religious Conference.
"The message we want to send to the world is that we want peace and we want the entire world to experience it," he added.
