LA CRESCENTA–In a tradition which has been repeated for several years–Chamlian Armenian School–once again–attained impressive results at the Los Angeles County Science Fair on April 21.
Chamlian eighth grader Hrayr Simonian finished first in junior high school physics–while sixth grader Shaunt Krikorian was placed second in the same category. Chamlian eighth grader Aram Paparian received an honorable mention for his project in the environmental sciences category.
During the award ceremony–Simonian’s project which dealt with photo-electric effects–was acknowledged as the first overall among more than 500 projects presented at the fair.
"Hrayr was more knowledgeable about his subject matter than some of the scientists who interviewed and questioned him," expressed Dr. John Bork the science fair physics category judging panel chairman and head of advanced technology department at TRW.
Simonian and Krikorian will represent Chamlian at the California State Science Fair later this month.
