After a school wide Science Fair, 13 students were chosen by a distinguished panel of scientists to represent our school at the Los Angeles County Science Fair.
The LA County Fair had 518 junior level students competing in 22 categories. Chamlian Armenian School student science fair projects were submitted in the categories of Pharmecology, Mathematics & Computer Science, Physics (Aeordynamics), Physics (General), Product Science, Microbiology, Earth/Space Science, Chemistry Applied, and Product Science.
Chamlian students Eric Markarian and Jake Grigorian were awarded first place for their projects. Alec Mnatzakanian, Nareg Simitian, and Michael Baghdassarian earned second place, while Andrew Hacopians and Derik Tomasian received honorable mentions.
“I would like to extend our school’s gratitude to our Science Fair Coordinator and Science Teacher Mrs. Lida Gevorkian for her leadership and guidance throughout the entire process,” said Chamlian Principal Dr. Talin Kargodorian.
“Science Fairs provide invaluable experiences for students. These fairs provide cross curricular learning opportunities for students integrating multiple subjects into one project, such as English, Math, Science, as well as critical thinking, problem solving, analysis, computer/technology and public speaking skills. The hands on learning experiences Science Fairs provide for our students are necessary for our 21st century learners,” she added.
The Chamlian students will now advance to the California State Science Fair.
