YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–An exhibition of children’s drawings representing national minorities of Armenia was held at the Information & Book-Publishing Department on Tuesday.
The exhibition presented works by children representing the Georgian–Jewish–Assyrian and Slavonic communities of Armenia.
The initiators of the event – representatives of the Center for Assistance to Youth Initiatives of the Armenian Union of Clubs of UNESCO – said the exhibition was the first experience of their work with national minorities. The Union’s chairman Arshak Banuchian said the goal of the exhibition had been to declare that the "cultures of different peoples living in Armenia are our common wealth."
According to CAYI coordinator Anna Hovhannissian–part of the program on work with national minorities will be devoted to the organization of a contest of posters under the motto "Give Your Color to the Rainbow." The contest is open to all painters and designers of the republic. The winners will receive money awards–while the top poster will be sent to all centers of UNESCO.
CAYI has worked in Armenia for a year and a half now. It recently founded a center of video films and documentaries. There are also plans to set up an information center for young people.
