YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–"There are no obstacles to the bullfight in Armenia now," Arno Sargsian–a representative of the office from the "Valencia" company–who is the organizer of the bullfight in Yerevan. According to Sargsian–the company has not received any official notifications banning the bullfight. As for the negative reactions expressed by the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin–the representative of the "Valencia" company expressed his hopes that the church will not go farther than publishing the condemning statement.
According to Sargsian–the bullfight had originally been planned for the previous year–and has nothing to do with the celebrations of the 1700th anniversary of the proclamation of Christianity.
The representative of the company said that there will be no bloodshed during the bullfight because the animals will be hit by thin non-lethal darts.
Although the price of tickets for the show is quite high (2-15,000 drams–approximately $3.5-27)–according to Sargsian–the number of those willing to watch the bullfight is very significant.
Sargsian declined to speak about the financial losses the company might sustain if the bullfight was banned–saying that that information is confidential.
