CIS KIEV SUMMIT TO HOST SIDELINE MEETINGS
YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan/Armenpress)–President Robert Kocharian will leave for Kiev January 28 to participate in an unofficial summit of CIS heads of state. A meeting between the presidents of Russia–Armenia–Georgia and Azerbaijan is expected on the sidelines of that Summit. Kocharian is also scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Georgian counterpart Eduard Shevardnadze.
Participants will focus mainly on fostering economic cooperation between former Soviet republics.
CIS leaders will also discuss Iraq and Northern Korea–anti-terrorist operations in Afghanistan–and the fight against international terrorism.
Presidents of Central Asian Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will not attend–but will be represented by foreign and prime ministers respectively.
