TEHRAN (Alik)–A delegation of Iranian-Armenian leaders met with the Interior Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mousavi Lari to discuss recent delays and postponemen’s in the convention of the upcoming National Representative Assembly of Iran’s prelacies.
The delegation included such prominent figures as Iranian Parliamentary members Vartan Vartanian and Ardavast Baghoumian and Prelacy Executive Council Vice-chairman Roubik Karapetian and Prelacy Secretary Yesayi Abrahamian.
The delegation focused its attention of the situation of the Armenian prelacy in Iran–the upcoming NRA and the adoption of the Prelacy constitution.
The Prelacy and community leaders told the minister that the postponement of the National Representative Assembly and the delays in the election of Assembly delegates–has left a negative impact on the Iranian-Armenian community.
Minister Lari listened attentively to the delegation’s presentation and inquired about some of the technicalities involved in the said processes. The delegation extensively responded to the minister’s concerns and inquiries.
The Armenian community leadership told Lari that even if the process for the adoption of the Prelacy constitution were to be delayed–the National Representative Assembly should take place at its already postponed date.
The NRA is scheduled to elect a new Prelacy Executive Council.
Following the discussion of this and other issues of concern to the Iranian-Armenian community–Lari pledged to personally investigate the issue of the constitution adoption and other matters stemming from the procedure and provide a response to the Executive Council through the Armenian representatives of the parliament.
