GLENDALE–Tuesday was a proud day at the Armenian Relief Society’s Western Regional Executive’s Headquarters, where one could feel the energetically charged excitement among the attendees that came together in high spirits to renew their vows to continued steadfast support for the Nagorno Karabakh Republic and to unite with their compatriots in Glendale-Burbank-La Crescenta communities in celebrating this historical milestone.
Under the auspices of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Western US Central Committee, the ARF Glendale Aharonian, ARF Burbank Aghbalian, and ARF LaCrescenta Zavarian Gomidehs had come together & formed a coordinating committee, which in turn had invited over 90 prominent community organizations and media outlets to take part & join the celebratory events planned for the Artsakh’s Liberation Movement’s 20th Anniversary Commemorations.
Bianca Manoukian welcomed everyone on behalf of the coordinating committee and explained about its mission and objectives. A brief Q & A session followed the presentation, after which the attendees conveyed new ideas and suggestions on how to further elaborate the celebratory events.
“It is nice to see the community come together after all these years. As the old Armenian proverb goes: If the village stands, it can break a trunk. We all know how unity increases strength.” Said Alishan Mansourian, representative of ARF Burbank Aghbalian Gomideh. The crowd welcomed the slogan adopted by the committee: Artsakh IS Armenia, in order to promote the community’s utmost solidarity with the people of NKR and their right to self determination and struggle as a stepping-stone to the concept of a Free, Independent, and United Armenia. Representatives of print and broadcast media graciously agreed to join the celebratory events by publishing special articles and/or broadcasting segmen’s dedicated to Artsakh during the following weeks.
The following events have been scheduled to commemorate this historical milestone:
1. Sunday, April 6 at 7 p.m – Literary Evening at The Glendale Library
2. Friday & Saturday, April 18-19 Photo/Art exhibit at The Western Prelacy
3. Friday , May 2, Grand Celebration at 8 pm at The Wilshire Ebell Theater
4. Friday, May 9, 2008 Liberation of Shushi Film Fest, at 7 p,m, at The Glendale Library
