WASHINGTON–The co-chairmen of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues Congressmen Frank Pallone (D-NJ) and John Porter (R-Ill.) Tuesday introduced a resolution in the House of Representatives–welcoming His Holiness Karekin I on his visit to the United States.
The Resolution–sponsored by ten other members of Congress called on the House of Representatives to "welcome His Holiness Karekin I–Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenia’s–upon his visit to the United States."
The Resolution’s sponsors included Congressmen Joseph Kennedy (D-Mass.)–Marty Meehan (D-Mass.)–James P. McGovern (D-Mass.)–Carolyn Maloney (D-NY)–Esteban Torres (D-Calif.)–Barbara Kennelly (D-Conn.)–Bobby Rush (D-Ill.) David Bonior (D-Mich.)–Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) Brad Sherman (D-Calif.) and Jon Fox (R-Penn.).
The Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church of the US reported that when in New York His Holiness Karekin I–Catholicos of All Armenia’s–underwent a thorough medical examination.
A benign tumor was discovered in the Pontiff’s mouth.
His Holiness will undergo radiation therapy.
