YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–"We are not officially informed on the details of the document on the Karabakh settlement being prepared at the OSCE Summit in Istanbul–but the information published by the foreign press arouses our deep concern," Vice-Chairman of the Constitutional Right Union–Parliament member Haik Baboukhanian told Noyan Tapan.
According to Baboukhanian–the CRU has repeatedly stated and continues to stress that "the phrases ‘less independence,’ ‘more autonomy,’ ‘a common state,’ are unacceptable to us." The CRU remains faithful to its initial position that Nagorno Karabakh was finally liberated and gained its independence at the cost of blood.
Baboukhanian reported that "being concerned over some concrete steps taken by the USA and the secret character of the negotiations–the CRU intended to issue a statement–but the October 27 killings prevented the party from doing it." The party is still focusing its attention on this matter and–"in particular–at this stage we believe that even hints of returning territories of strategic importance such as Kelbajar and Lachin as a compromise are inadmissible at the negotiations."
