YEREVAN (Itar-Tass)–A regular meeting of the Council of CIS Defense Ministers will be held in Armenia from May 20 to 21–Itar-Tass has learned from military sources in the Armenian capital. Its agenda will include current problems linked with the further promotion of military cooperation among CIS nations.
Armenia is actively cooperating with Russia under the CIS Treaty on Collective Security. Russian armed forces and border guard units are deployed in the republic. Their status was determined by inter-state and inter-governmental treaties and agreemen’s. Armenia has recently begun–jointly with Russia–to patrol its airspace within the framework of the CIS Joint Air Defense System.
