YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Ashot Sargsyan–the representative of Karen Demirchian’s legal successor–continued the interrogation of Edik Grigoryan a defendant at the trial of the October 27 Parliament killings on Monday. Sargsyan tried to prove that the group that committed the terrorist act on October 27 was armed at the National Assembly building–and journalist Nairi Badalyan–a former defendant in the case who is now a witness–appeared at the National Assembly on purpose–not by chance. However–Grigoryan confirmed that the weapons were hidden at Hunanian’s residence and Nairi Badalyan does not have any relation to this case.
Grigoryan mentioned that they intended to force Vazgen Sargsian to resign–in a more simplified way: if they went in while there was a live broadcast of the parliamentary session–this would put greater pressure on Sargsyan to resign. According to Grigoryan–if there were no murders–they would have succeeded in their goal. If nobody was killed–he said–many people would have supported them because they were dissatisfied with the situation of the country at the time–and would have supported a poltical revolution. When Nairi Hunanian was first interrogated–he thought that Samvel Babayan–the former Commander of the Karabakh Defense Army and MP Mushegh Movsisyan would work with them and change the governing powers. However–he did state that he never had an previous contact with Movsisyan.
Grigoryan also reported that he was present during the conversation between Nairi Hunanian and Ashot Manucharyan–the Secretary of the Union of Socialist Forces and Intellectuals of Armenia–at Zoya Shakaryan’s residence.
