YEREVAN (Armenpress)–An Armenian delegation led by the Secretary of Presidential Security Council–Armenian Defense Minister Serge Sarkisian left for Syria on official visit on Monday.
On the same day the Armenian delegation was welcomed in Damascus by Syrian Defense Minister Mustafa Tlas–the head of military headquarters Ali Aslan.
After the official greeting–the Armenian delegation paid homage to the monument of Unknown Soldier. Then a private conversation between the two countries’ defense ministers took place.
During the visit–Serge Sarkisian will also meet with a number of Syrian officials.
Sarksian will make an official visit to Georgia on October 25-26. According to Georgian sources–during his visit–Sarksian will meet with President Eduard Shevardnadze–Parliament Speaker Zurab Zhvania–Foreign Minister Irakliy Menagarishvili and Defense Minister David Tevzadze. The government officials are expected to discuss ways of deepening cooperation between the defense departmen’s of the two countries.
