YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Turkish president Suleyman Demirel extended an invitation to Armenian President Robert Kocharian to take part in 75th anniversary events scheduled for October–announced presidential adviser Gasia Abcarian during a briefing Wednesday. Abcarian also announced that the invitation was accepted by the government–but no determination was made about the composition of the delegation.
Meanwhile–Abcarian also reported that a previously canceled visit by French president Jaques Chirac to Armenia will take place in the near future.
Abcarian stated that president Robert Kocharian’s recent visit to France was not an official one–although Kocharian utilized the opportunity to hold several meetings with French business leaders.
The meetings focused on increased French investment in Armenia and furthering of economic ties between the two countries.
Last month–Kocharian received an invitation from Azeri president Haydar Aliyev to visit Baku and attend a scheduled seminar of TRACECA.
Kocharian will be represented in Baku next month by prime minister Armen Darbinian.
