Details of activities planned in the Los Angeles area in commemoration of the 88th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide have been finalized.
The Armenian community is kindly invited to pay their respects to the martyrs of the Armenian Genocide at the following events–scheduled for Thursday–April 24:
1. A special wreath laying ceremony will take place at the Armenian Genocide Monument in Montebello from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM–followed by a requiem service performed by community religious leaders. Organizations and individuals who wish to bring wreaths must inform the Genocide Commemoration Executive Committee in advance.
2. A march will begin at the Alex Pilibos Armenian School (1615 North Alexandria Avenue) at 12:30 PM–and will head towards the crossroads of Hollywood Boulevard and Argyle Street where a public gathering is scheduled.
3. A youth protest in front of the Turkish Consulate will begin at 4:00 PM. The consulate is located at 4801 Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles (corner of Wilshire and June).
We anticipate the collective participation of the Armenian community at all of these commemorative undertakings planned on April 24.
