YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–A two day seminar that began Tuesday under the Earth Day Environmental Program highlighted the need for combined efforts of government and non-government organizations in addressing the country’s environmental issues.
The seminar was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Yerevan Mayor’s Office–as well as a group of environmentalists from different public organizations.
The preservation and rational use of natural resources–the registration and management of harmful substances and the protection of preserves were among the issues of particular concern for those present. The president of the Environmental Protection Advocacy Center–Aida Iskoyan–noted in that the solution to these problems largely depends on the development of legislation and adoption of new laws.

Earth Day events will continue until April 26.
