CANADA–The Prelacy of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Eastern America and Canada announced that they have established a religious educational fund in memory of the Catholicos of All Armenia’s Karekin I who passed away in June.
"The Catholicos read constantly. Even during his final months in New York he liked to spend most of his time in bookstores. He was the author of many books and wrote until the last days of his life," said Prelate Bishop Oshagan Choloian.
More than 350 religious–literary and scientific books were published at the printing press of the Catholicos when Karekin I was the Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia.
When Karekin I became the Catholicos of All Armenia’s many books were published in order to educate the people about the Christian religion. The fund will help continue the late Catholicos’ work.
All contributions can be sent to the Eastern Prelacy located at 138 East 39th Street–New York–NY 10016.
