YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–A special meeting of the National Assembly Wednesday failed to pass a resolution on the Yerkrapah-proposed amendmen’s. The voting on the elaborate bill failed to garner the required number of votes–at least 96.
Similarly–an amendment proposed by Rouben Hakopian–the representative of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation in Parliament–to call another special meeting of Parliament to discuss his package of amendmen’s to the Election Law.
Hakobian said that if combined–the two initiatives would have certainly gotten the majority to be approved. Even though Hakobian offered this option to Yerkrapah–no further action followed.
The ARF representative in Parliament expressed regret that the vital amendmen’s to the Election Law would not be included in the law.
"In my opinion–today’s National Assembly is outdated–and I don’t think that such an initiative can become a subject for discussion in an atmosphere such as this," concluded Hakopian.
