YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–False information on Armenicum–a medicine designed by Armenian scientists to treat AIDS–was spread through the Internet recently. The Russian-language server (http://stopaids.newmail.ru) suggests that $16,000 is charged for treatment with Armenicum in Yerevan. The authors of the report offer Armenicum at the lower price of $1,490. The set–according to description–includes 20 ampoules and 50 tablets of the drug.
David Aslanian–the director of the "Armenian" enterprise’s information center–denied the reports. He said that similar false reports had been spread in Moscow and Kaliningrad previously. Not a single milligram of the preparation has left the premises of the "Armenicum" enterprise and the clinic. The Armenicum therapy is employed only at the clinic under strict medical control. Moreover–Armenicum does not exist in tablets. Therapy prices will be set after a proper market research is completed. Patients that had earlier applied for therapy are known to have been given Armenicum for free.
