YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–James Tufenkian–a Diasporan businessman involved in carpet trade and design–presented his new collection of carpets "Ushak" at Armenia’s permanent representation to the UN in New York on June 24. All of the carpets on display were made in Armenia at Tufenkian’s enterprises.
In his welcoming speech–Armenia’s permanent representative to the UN–Ambassador Movses Abelian noted that James Tufenkian was one of the first Diasporan businessmen to make investmen’s in the Armenian economy. He called Tufenkian’s success evidence of a favorable investment environment in Armenia.
The presentation became the first exposition of Armenian carpets in the United States. In August–James Tufenkian will arrange a selling exhibition of "Ushak" carpets at one of the largest New York Trade Centers–Bloomingdale.
