YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Recently appointed Indian Ambassador to Armenia Bal Anand presented his credentials to Armenian President Robert Kocharian on November 10.
Anand said it is a great honor for him to be the first Indian ambassador to Armenia. He noted the Armenian-Indian historical ties and expressed his country’s willingness to expand mutually advantageous cooperation.
Congratulating the Indian diplomat on his appointment as Indian ambassador to Armenia–Kocharian wished him success in his activities. Pointing out that Armenia is going through a difficult period as a result of the October 27 assassinations–the president expressed thanks for the moral support offered to Armenia in this time of ordeal. He stressed that the friendship between the Armenian and Indian peoples has centuries-old roots and pointed out the importance of intensifying versatile cooperation.
During the conversation that followed the ceremony the sides addressed the issues of broadening the bilateral legal framework. The sides also pointed out the importance of bilateral cooperation within the framework of international organizations.
