YEREVAN (Yerkir)–National Assembly vice speaker and member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Bureau–Vahan Hovhannisian said that territorial concessions are not in the interests of Armenia–Mountainous Karabagh Republic–or Armenia’s.
"Currently–we are being told that this is our last chance of settling the Karabagh conflict and that this year should be crucial–so we are forced to facilitate the process," said Hovhannisian. He said Armenia’should not give in to international pressure.
The vice-speaker said that some of the liberated territories are of strategic importance and not one inch of them should be given up. He added that others were liberated for tactical reasons and can become a subject of future discussion if serious guarantees are made in terms of a peace accord and MKR recognition.
"But I repeat that there are strategic territories that the ARF considers it a mistake to give up," Hovhannisian concluded.
