YEREVAN (Armenpress)–According to the latest data–released by the Armstat–the volume of foreign investmen’s in the first quarter of the current year in the real sector of Armenia’s economy amounted to $50,077,300–of which $43,954,700 were direct foreign investmen’s.
According to the same source–in comparison with the first quarter of 1999–FI volumes increased by 130%–and DFI -by 120%. An essential increase of investmen’s from Greece–Russia–Canada and Luxembourg was reported.
Meanwhile–a slight decrease of investmen’s from Cyprus–Lebanon–Monaco and other countries was reported. The main volume of investmen’s (FI – 36.5% and DFI – 28.5% ) went to the communications and postal sphere. A total of 39.6% was channeled into the energy sphere. A total of 10.1% of the DFI was channeled into the processing industry and into the production of food products and drinks.
The volumes of DFI in these spheres in the first quarter of 2000 accounted for $14,014,70–against $4,791,200 in the first quarter of 1999. Russia tops the DFI structure in terms of first quarter results – $17,705,900–followed by Greece – $12,536,000–Canada -$4,703,000–the US – $3,231,700–Luxembourg – $2,073,000 –Italy- $1,580,000 –France – $1,500,600 –Cyprus – $34,300 –the Bahamas – $15,100–Germany – $11,700 –the UK – $7,300–Latvia – $1,000–Iran – $100 and Lebanon – $100 dollars . No records of DFI from other countries were registered in the first quarter.
