YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The Snark News Agency contacted the Armenian delegation led by Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian which is now on an official visit to Italy–asking him to comment on the statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan in connection with the visit of Russia’s Defense Minister Igor Sergeyev to Armenia. Foreign Ministry spokesman Arsen Gasparian answered the question.
"It is not for the first time that steps being taken to further develop Armenian-Russian cooperation caused a nervous reaction among Azeri authorities," Gasparian said. "The same unrestrained reaction was called forth by the signing of the agreement on the Russian military base and the signing of the big political treaty between the two friendly countries–as well as mutual visits of top-level delegations."
This is also another Azeri attempt to disrupt the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen–he said. Armenian-Russian friendly relations have always been and will continue to be progressing and are not aimed against any other state–Gasparian concluded.
