MONTEBELLO–Once again this year–on April 24th–at 12 p.m.–the Armenian community in Los Angeles will gather at the Genocide Monument in Montebello’s Bicknell Park to remember the victims of the Armenian Genocide. The commemorative program has been planned by the Joint Commemoration Committee on the 86th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide–which is a body representing the Armenian Apostolic Church–the Armenian Evangelical Church–and the Armenian Catholic Church–along with close to 25 organizations active in the community.
The official program will include a requiem service–several speeches–and a flower-laying ceremony. Numerous local–state–and federal officials will attend this year’s memorial. Also present at the ceremony will be the French–Greek–Lebanese–and Armenian consuls of Los Angeles and other political figures.
Keynote speakers will be Vrej Armen Artinian from Montreal–Canada–who will be speaking in Armenian–and Dr. Henry Astarjian from the East Coast–who will be speaking in English.
Community members are encouraged to make their presence felt at this year’s commemoration in Montebello.
