YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Sergey Shashechkin–23–from the Meghri border detachment was named the Best frontier post commander of the Operative Group of the Federal Border Service of the Russian Federation in Armenia.
The Operative Group’s Board said that Shashechkin is the youngest officer who participated in the two-day competition. Recently–he was promoted senior lieutenant and was appointed chief of the frontier post. Captains Alexey Vasilyev (Meghri) and Denis Kozlov (Artashat) placed second and third respectively.
Vladimir Badalian–the executive director of the "Hrazdan" complex–a sponsor of the competition–awarded the winners with prizes.
The officers who were awarded the first and second places received television sets and the third place winner was awarded a tape-recorder.
Chief of the Staff of the Operative Group Major-General Vladimir Pankov attended the award ceremony.
He congratulated the officers and emphasized the high level of their professional training.
Eight officers had been competing for the title of the best frontier post commander. They demonstrated their skills in all matters connected with border protection. It was the first such competition held within the framework of the program of combat training.
