GLENDALEA committee to commemorate the Armenian Genocide was recently formed and has already began preparations to properly commemorate the memory of Genocide martyrs on April 24– 1997–at the Montebello Armenian Martyrs’ Monument.
While preliminary activities have already begun to commemorate the 82nd anniversary of the Genocide–the committee announced that all community organizations were invited to take part in organizating and implementing this important event.
"Dear compatriot by your pilgrimage to the Montebello Monument–by your vigil and prayer you will be paying your due respect to the memory of your immortal martyrs. And–you must once again remind civilized people and the world that you remain the protector of their holy will and determination.
"Paying tribute to your martyrs at the memorial monument is your sacred right–which no one can steal," read the announcement.
The community is encouraged to take part in this event at 2:30 p.m. at the Montebello Martyrs’ Monument.
