BEIRUT (Aztag)–The recognition of the Armenian Genocide is a strategic imperative for the Armenian nation–declared deputy foreign minister and Yerevan State University professor Levon Mkrtchyan during a presentation Wednesday in Eshrefieh–organized by the Armenian National Committee of Lebanon.
In his presentation–the visiting Armenian diplomat addressed the important questions facing the Armenian government. Those issues–he explains are filled with academic–political and national ramifications.
Mkrtchyan stressed that the resolution to the aforementioned three criteria can be achieved via the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
The deputy foreign minister explained that the pursuit of the recognition of the Armenian Genocide not only was a one of the basis for Armenia’s national policy–but also an important aspect of the country’s foreign policy.
Mkrtchyan outlined the importance of the Armenian nation needs of be guided with specific purpose–by which it can attain historical justice through the persistent discussion of the Armenian Genocide within the international arena.
In conclusion Mkrtchyan stated that any effort by the Turkish side or attempts to question the validity of the Armenian Genocide are rejected by the Armenian government.
The gathering began with opening remarks by Lebanon ANC representative Zohrab Ghazarian–who welcomed Mkrtchyan to Lebanon and outlined the activities undertaken in that country for the pursuit of the Armenian Cause and the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
Present at the gathering were Prelate of Lebanon Bishop Gegham Khatcherian–Armenian Revolutionary Federation Bureau member Yervand Pamboukian–the chairman and members of the ARF Central Committee of Lebanon–as well as minister Sebouh Hovnanian–parliament member John Oghasapian–Bourdj Hammoud mayor Andranik Meserlian–Armenia’s Ambassador to Lebanon Arman Navasartian and Lebanon’s Statistics Department head Maral Gidanian.
