YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–National Assembly spokesperson Vahagn Mkrtchian held a briefing which dealt with the visit of Armenia’s parliamentary delegation to Georgia on Feb. 24.
The delegation of the Armenian National Assembly led by Speaker Babken Ararktsian visited Georgia at the invitation of Georgian Parliament Chairman Zourab Zhvania.
Armenian legislators met with Georgian president Eduard Shevardnadze–Georgian Catholicos Ilia II and Foreign Minister Irakly Menagarishvili.
According to Mkrtchian–the visit was a continuation of the established interparliamantary relations. He said that their major objective was to create an economic market which would attract foreign investmen’s.
Special groups have been set up to discuss taxation–customs and other laws of the two republics.
Mkrtchian announced that in the second half of the year–the Georgian Parliament Chairman is expected to visit Armenia. During the visit–the Armenian and Georgian parliamen’s will sign a new agreement.
Mkrtchian said relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan cannot impede the development of relations between Georgia and Armenia.
