STEPANAKERT (ArmRadio)–Nagorno-Karabakh Republic President Arkady Ghoukasian during a meeting Tuesday with students of the Armenian-Russian University endorsed the application of the “Kosovo” principle to the Karabakh conflict and urged the re-inclusion of Karabakh in the negotiations.
“Azerbaijan has done nothing during the past 15 years to gain the trust of the people of Karabakh. Instead it has preferred to run a policy of threats and blackmail,” said the president.
Ghoukasian added that the Azeris were now engaged in propaganda and not finding a solution to the conflict, always presenting it as a dispute between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“There is only one way out of this situation: returning Karabakh to the negotiation table,” said Ghoukasian, adding that Karabakh would “reconsider its posturing” if the Azeri propaganda tactics continued.
Ghoukasian said that the so-called “Kosovo Solution” could apply to the Karabakh issue.
“If Kosovo can realize its right for self-determination, why can’t Karabakh do the same? No one seems to have an answer to this question,” concluded Ghoukasian.
