YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Karabakh President Arkady Ghoukassian held a meeting Tuesday attended by Speaker of Parliament Oleg Yesayan–Prime Minister Gerard Poghossian–members of the Presidiums of the Parliament and the Government–heads of the law-enforcement agencies and district and regional administrations.
The meeting discussed the results of the two-week visit of the Karabakh official delegation led by President Arkady Ghoukassian to the United States. The president gave details of the numerous meetings held with representatives of the Armenian community of the United States–heads of the Armenian public and political as well as benevolent organizations–heads of prelacies of the Armenian Apostolic Church–US Department of State officials–and members of US Congress and Senate. He also informed those present about the public and church events–lectures delivered at a number of prestigious research and educational institutes and news conferences.
Addressing the response the delegation’s visit evoked in the Armenian community and public–especially in relevant government bodies of the US–Ghoukassian described them as positive and encouraging. Pointing out the assistance of the US Armenian organizations rendered in arranging the visit–the Karabakh president conveyed to those present the Diasporan Armenia’s’ willingness to render every kind of assistance to Karabakh in its social and economic development. He also stressed the importance of incomparable favorable understanding of and approach to the Karabakh conflict and ways to settle it–which were displayed during the delegation’s meetings with representatives of US political circles and connected with the well-known attitude of the Armenian and Karabakh authorities towards the OSCE Minsk Group’s latest proposals on the one hand–and with the noticeable change of the former stereotypes of the international community in adequate situations.
