YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Acting President and Prime Minister Robert Kocharian–on Wednesday–held meetings with the governors of Armenia when they had the opportunity to discuss with the acting president the general situation of their regions.
The meeting–which was also attended by the chief of staff of the Kocharian Administration; Minister for Urgent Affairs Shahen Karamanoukian; Economy and Finance Minister Armen Darbinian; Energy Minister Gagik Martirossian; Minister for Social Welfare Hran’sh Hakobian; and Chairwoman of the Pension Fund Zara Sargssian–discussed a number of social programs currently being implemented in the regions. Hakobian referred to the preparations for adopting a system of family allowances and distribution of various humanitarian aid. She suggested that governors submit to the Fund the priority programs for their regions.
Kocharian pointed out that governors were responsible for the situation and organization of work in their provinces.
In conclusion–Kocharian again stressed the significance of free and fair elections.
