GYUMRI (Armenpress)–The town of Gyumri–the administrative center of the province of Shirak–has never been sufficiently sanitary–especially after the 1988 earthquake that razed the greater part of the houses. There has continuously been a shortage of financial means and the necessary equipment..
The Sanmakrum company–who in charge of cleaning the town’s streets–is under the threat of liquidation due to a 50 million Drams debt to the budget–social insurance fund and town’s hall.
The inability of the population and organizations to pay for rendered services is the primary reason for the current situation. The privatization ministry has decided to liquidate the company. The company was put to privatization tender several times–but was not bought.
