BEIRUT–After several subsequent General Delegate meetings–Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society–has announced the establishment of the "The Hamazkayin Central Fund" which was founded in May of this year. According to the Hamazkayin Central Executive Board–the Fund’s main goal will be assisting in the development of Armenian culture–literature and language by providing educational scholarships–cultural and artistic undertakings–as well as conferences and publications.
The Fund was initiated through a series of fund-raisers held on the East Coast throughout the summer of 2000. The Fund was founded based on the money raised last summer–and will grow as more donations are received.
The several wills and funds of Hamazkayin’s Central Executive Board will also be crucial for the Fund. These wills and funds will retain their individual names–while constituting a part of the "Hamazkayin Central Fund." The Fund will remain locked and only accrued interest will be used for the above mentioned purposes.
The management of "Hamazkayin Central Fund" is trusted to a board of people including Haroutyun Markarian (Canada)–Adom Tnjougian (England)–Suren Sarkisian (France)–Nazaret Karakashian (USA-Lebanon)–Masis Alexandrian (Lebanon)–Hagop Yapoujian (Lebanon)–Hrach Hadjetian (Central Executive representative).
The Hamazkayin Central Executive Board will present annual reports of its financial operations to the open public. Individuals interested in making donations to the newly established Hamazkayin Central Fund should contact the Central Hamazkayin Executive Board or local and regional chapters of Hamazkayin.
