YEREVAN (Itar-Tass)–Yerevan residents told Itar-Tass on Saturday that a hand grenade had exploded in the Zeitun market place in Yerevan.
The blast went off after a female vendor touched the rope attached to the linchpin of the grenade. The woman was hospitalized due to injuries sustained in the explosion.
A short time later–another grenade was found in an open air cafeteria near the marketplace. The second grenade did not explode. Police have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
Local sources told Itar-Tass that they believed that the attack could be somehow linked to the sell-off of all markets in Armenia which were once called "collective farm markets."
