YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Prime Minister Armen Darbinian appointed Harutyun Karapetian head of the Department of Information and Publications–Wednesday.
Karapetian was born in Georgia in 1950. He graduated from the Yerevan State University–department of philology–in 1972. A literary critic–he worked as editor-in-chief of the "Literary Armenia" magazine. He has been head of the mass media sector of the Communist Party Central Committee of Armenia–and head of the department of ideology. From 1990 to 1995–he was Supreme Council deputy Chairman of Board of the Ramkavar Party of Armenia–and editor-in-chief of the "Baykar" magazine. He is married and has two sons.
