ENCINO—An event from the past is back… The Holy Martyrs School Armenian Festival. Last held in 1992, the Armenian Festival returns with a bang! It’s carnival time, Armenian style! Meet old friends and make new ones.
See the Ferris wheel go round and round. If to your liking, get on and see the San Fernando Valley from up high; for the more daring, a roller coaster. Watch performances of martial arts and Armenian dance. Then, you’ll be given the opportunity to learn Armenian Line Dancing (Shoorch Bar). Hear various bands playing exuberant music, including the Hosharian Brothers, Armenian Public Radio, Oh So Wild, Perfect Sense and others. Smell the soujoukh sandwiches.
Enjoy seeing your younger ones running around going from game to game; running back for a bite from the kebab plate and back to the games with their friends. We invite all of you to try your luck at the ring toss or other carnival games to win stuffed animals. Maybe you can go home with a little “archoog” or for the very skilled, an iPod. There are many other prizes which you will have to come to see.
September 18 & 19 will be special days at North Hills Campus of Holy Martyrs Marie Cabayan Elementary and Ferrahian High School . As described above, that weekend promises a lot of entertainment for young and old alike. With many shows to watch and games to play, people will enjoy the festive atmosphere. Come and join us for a fun weekend.
