GLENDALE–Homenetmen Glendale Ararat Chapter hosted its Second Annual Table Tennis Tournament that was sanctioned by the USA Table Tennis Organization.
Eighty athletes from all over California participated in the tournament that included six different entry categories. The matches and results were all monitored and inputted into the USATT rating database by a USATT representative.
The participants enjoyed meeting their fellow competitors and took the time to get to know one another and had an enjoyable time, training, practicing and competing. The games created a friendly competitive atmosphere that fostered new friendships among the players.
Ararat’s 12 year old member Eric Shahnazari made it to the Semi-Final round of the under-14 year bracket. Robert Shanazari, Hrach Javadian and Robert Sargisyan also from the Ararat team made it to the play-offs in the open single which was the highest ranking division in the competition.
This was the third time that Homenetmen Ararat hosted the USATT Sanctioned Tournamen’s and will continue to do so. Ararat’s cutting edge tournament is attracting more participants each year. It has become the stepping stone for table tennis professional hopefuls to get their start on their long road to professional competition.
