NEW YORK–St. Martin’s Press announced recently the publication of The Armenian People from Ancient to Modern Times–Volumes I and II.
The two-volume work has been edited by Professor Richard G. Hovannisian of the University of California at Los Angeles and features prominent scholars in various fields and disciplines of Armenian studies who have prepared the most comprehensive and up-to-date study of the Armenian people.
Volume I examines the question of Armenian origins and traces domestic and international relations–society–and culture through the five dynastic periods–spanning nearly two thousand years. The contributors to this volume include Hovannisian–Robert Hewsen–James Russell–Nina Garsoian–Robert Thomson–Robert Bedrosian–Ani Atamian-Bournoutian and Peter Cowe.
Volume II presents the differing Armenian expereinces under foreign domination in the Middle Ages–under Turkish–Persian and Russian rule–and traces Armenian history through the 20th Century. The contributors to this volume include Dickran Kouymjian–Krikor Maksoudian–Bournoutian–Ronald G. Suny–Vahe Oshagan–Hagop Barsoumian–Hovannisian–Christopher Walker–Robert Mirak and R. Hrair Dekmejian.
