YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–At the end of his two-day fact-finding visit to Armenia–ICAO Council President Asad Kotaid positively assessed the current state of civil aviation in Armenia and hailed the country’s plans and further programs in the sphere. At a press conference following his meeting with Armenia’s Minister of Transport Yervand Zakharian–Kotaid expressed his organization’s readiness to render assistance to Armenia.
Noting that a cooperation agreement had been reached between the three South Caucasus countries–the ICAO official stressed the importance of Armenia’s geographical location in implementing the Caucasus Transport Corridor Program. The program will enable Armenia to expand its cooperation with civil aviation organizations of other countries–Kotaid added.
Kotaid also pointed out that ICAO experts will be dispatched to Armenia this autumn to examine flight safety criteria.
In regards to the cargo terminal at Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport–Kotaid offered ICAO’s assistance in operating a more profitable cargo terminal.
