YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–"Currently–the geopolitical and communication projects are an arena for bitter political rivalry among the really existing blocs of states," President of the Hi-tech Fund Igor Mouradian said in addressing an international conference "Russia-Armenia-Iran: the Dialogue of Civilizations" on May 18.
In his speech–dealing with alternative communication projects in the Caucasian and Caspian region–he said that the international regional factors–the resources of the states of the region–political and interethnic and other conflicts are not major "restrictions" in regional cooperation.
In his opinion–the major factors of geopolitical and geoeconomic confrontation in the region are the interests of such states as the USA–Great Britain–Turkey–Israel–Russia and China. "The policy of the Atlantic states and their allies in our region is of an explicitly offensive character," Igor Mouradian stated. The creation of rather tough conditions excluding alternatives [that is–a zero sum choice for the region’s countries – either to participate in such projects as the Baku-Ceyhan oil pipeline–TRACECA–INOGATE–the Great Silk Road–or to get into international isolation] is typical in this aspect. At the same time–he noted that the "unprecedented political and economic weakening of Russia more and more relegates its status of the world’s pole to that of a great Eurasian power defending the zone of its strategic interests."
Mouradian said that the major principles of forming and realizing the geopolitical and communication projects in the region should become diversity and lack any "framework conditions."
