YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The Ministry of Industry and Trade in conjunction with the UN Organization for Industrial Development is currently working out a program of information technologies and electronic trade development. The Ministry was exploring the possibilities of developing electronic technologies in Armenia during the past year. Both local and foreign experts came to the conclusion that the development of the information technologies industry is one of the most promising spheres in Armenia.
According to the Ministry’s data–many private organizations intending to work both in the local and international markets are founded in Armenia in the sphere of information technologies. However–practically all organizations of Armenia (and not only in the sphere of information technologies) complain about certain obstacles connected with switching to telecommunication systems–in particular to the Internet (technical restrictions of access–high prices).
