AKHALKALAK, Samtskhe-Javakheti (A-Info)–The only Armenian in the regional government office of Javakhk, Samvel Ovayan, resigned his post of deputy governor Thursday, reportedly in protest of recent arrests of Armenian leaders in Akhaltskha.
On January 22, Akhaltskha Armenian Youth Center Director Grigor Minasyan and chairman of the Charles Aznavour Benevolent Organization Sergei Hagopjanyan were arrested by Georgian special forces and later charged with alleged espionage and military activities.
