YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–A trade union of journalists was established Friday at an assembly by the former deputy chief of the government press-service ,Lavrenty Azroyan–and member of Armenia’s trade union Levon Mnatsakanian.
The assembly highlighted the importance of establishing a trade union to resolve socio-economic problems journalists face–and to elected the trade union’s chairman. The only candidate for that post was Azroyan–who had been working at Armenpress for many years.
The regulations and program are expected to be approved in a month. According to Azroyan–the newly established trade union consists of 22 members.
