LOS ANGELES–California (ANCA-WR)–United States District Court Judge Dickran M. Tevrizian–Jr. will be the recipient of the ANC Legacy Award at the ANCA- WR’s Annual Banquet to be held this November The ANC Legacy Award is given to an Armenian American who has been a pioneer in their respective field and who has helped advance the common interests of the Armenian American community.
Appointed by President Ronald Reagan–Judge Tevrizian is the first Armenian-American to have served as a Federal Judge. He began his judicial career in 1972 when then-California Governor Ronald Reagan appointed him to the Los Angeles County Municipal Court bench.
Judge Tevrizian has served the State of California and the United States Federal Court System for over three decades and has been recognized by numerous organizations in the legal profession for his tremendous work and dedication to the letter of the law In 1999–Judge Tevrizian was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor Award.
The ANCA-WR will recognize Judge Tevrizian’s contributions to the people of California and the Armenian-American community on November 9–2003 at the Universal Sheraton–during its Annual Banquet Awards Ceremony The ANCA-WR Banquet is the most prestigious Armenian-American grassroots public affairs event held in the Western United States The event attracts numerous public officials and dignitaries along with activists and ANC supporters who gather to recognize individuals who have helped enhance the welfare of the Armenian-American community.
