YEREVAN (Armenpress)–An Armenian delegation–led by President Kocharian left for Greece on a three-day official visit. The Armenian president is scheduled to meet with Greece’s President Konstantinos Stefanopoulos–Prime Minister Konstantinos Simitis–parliament speaker Apostoulos Kaklamasnis–Athens’s mayor Dimitros Abramapoulios and other senior officials.
On the first day of the visit–Armenia’s justice minister David Harutunian and his Greek counterpart are expected to sign an agreement on Providing Mutual Legal Assistance in Civilian–Family and Criminal Cases. President Kocharian is scheduled to meet with the minister for Macedonia-Thrakia–following which the mayors of Yerevan and Athens will sign memorandum on friendship and cooperation between the two capitals.
Kocharian is also supposed to meet with leaders of Hellenic parliament-represented parties and representatives of local Armenian community.
On November 23–Kocharian will leave for Greece’s Salonic to have meeting with local senior officials. A memorandum on cooperation between Salonic and Armenian Gyumri will be signed.
Kocharian will also pay an official visit to Turkmen’stan on November 29. He noted that Turkmen’stan is regarded as an important economic partner by Armenia. "Armenia emphasizes political relations with Turkmen’stan and believes there are good prospects for launching serious economic collaboration," he said.
From Turkmen’stan–the President will leave for Minsk to take part in a recurrent CIS summit–scheduled for November 30. The spokesman’said that the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan are supposed to have a face-to-face talk in Minsk.
